Default DIY Rain Sock??

As a biker on a budget, it's hard for me to shell out $30+ for the D&M rain sock for my cheapo $100 spike air cleaner. What are my alternatives? I'd like to just get a little piece of that fabric and make my own sock. Doesn't need to be pretty, might never use it. Just like to have it on hand, just in case. I wonder if "UnderArmor" material would work. My kid has a few shirts he outgrown. Gortex? Thoughts????

Heh, I never thought of UnderArmor as a water filter but why not? Let us know how it works out for you.
