Default ANOTHER crossbones question

Well guys, I'm sorry to hit you again, but I am new to the softail family. Is there a way to remove the stock inner fender and plate holder on the crossbones or other model with that style fender and leave the tail light intact? If not, if there a replacement for the factory tail light that calls for removal of all that plastic back there? Maybe the HD tri-bar LED? I want to go to a sidemount plate holder, but don't want a new rear fender (at least not for now)

I know there's a way to trim up the plastic and leave just the light. Someone on here did it to there Bones, and it looked good and clean. I just can't remember for the life of me??? I'll do some searches, and see if I can't find it??

I found it. "White Guy" has done this trimming on the rear fender of his Bones. He now rocks an RSD fender kit, but when his stock fender setup was on, he trimmed of the plate mount and excess plastic leaving only the tail light. Here's a picture of it at that stage. Check with him, and I'm sure he'll have some good info.

Buy the tri-bar light and trim the plate holder off of it - that way you still have your stocker if you want to switch back.

Here is a thread on the tri-bar WITH a plate: Link

With the tribar you won't have to do any trimming. The tribar does not use that plastic mount its a totally different mount with a different license plate bracket. That plate bracket just unbolts so no trimming will ne needed. Get the tribar, you'll love it.

Rowdy, I looked at your album, it looks real good. I was hoping you hadn't lowered it in the pics......which lowering kit did you use?
