I have an 08 xbones (my first cruiser/HD) and I want to swap out the bars! Now the issue is which style to go with. So here is the plan I am switching out the seat to the brawler type seat so do I ---
2- Go with a more standard looking bar like the Flanders bad boys
3- stick with the string seat with the either bar
oh I am also 6'3 with really long arms and i like to ride very stretched out, my only concern with the apes is the whole parachute effect when doing long runs and dont want a wind shield
Apes for sure. The seat is your call. I like the spring solo seat, but would get a different seat to put over the springs if it were mine. I like the old school style of the spring seat.
at least 16in. apes very comfortable even on long rides
Absolutly! The key to the comfort tho is to make sure your arm runs straight across with your shoulder to the bar. So take a tape measure and do a bit of checking to where that position lines up to figure what size bar you want.
I recently went through the same problem. I opted for the 12'' apes. But before I made my choice I went to several dealers and checked out the used bikes they had all types of handle bars that helped me out. That being said I live in Houston Tx. and had alot of choices. You also have to consider that all you wires and lines will have to be replaced and that is a large cost (475 $) In my case. Hope this helps.
