To stop the leak, the outer primary cover has to come off for a new gasket..not a big job.Shifter mec., foot board etc,,,anything in the way .

While you have the cover off,its a good time to visually inspect everything and adjust the primary chain.Again, not a big job.Correctly torque the primary screws to avoid another leak.

I have this same problem on my 2007 FLSTC. There is just a tiny spot on the floor under the primary drain plug after the bike has been ridden. Doesn't leak when cold. Any ideas? Thanks!!!

It could be a seal for the trans output shaft. That happened to my 07 deuce at just 2500 miles. Same issue, after riding there would be a small spot on the floor right under the drain plug. My work was done under warranty so I'm not sure what the whole job will cost.

Thanks for your reply! Hopefully mine will be under warranty too; 2007 with 17k miles. I'm planning to take a cross country ride in September so I better get it taken care of. How long did yours take to get fixed?

It was originally estimated at 4 hours, but was more like 6. I was in Laconia NH for bike week this june and stopped at a satellite dealer. They had to visit their main shop for the parts, then I was back on the road. The best part was it was a crappy day for weather so it didn't spoil any good riding. Great bunch of guys that got me back on the road. It's the North Conway shop of Mereditch H-D if you ever get up that way.
