Ok so my bike currently has Python slip on exhaust and a Screaming Eagle air cleaner. I just picked the bike up at Xmas so I have been trying to learn as much as possible since.
I have read on here that if you just the exhaust, you do not have to add the fuel management system but if you add both it and the air cleaner you do. Since mine has both, could someone tell me how I can tell if there is a fuel management system in place and where and what to look for? If it doesn't have it, what kind of problems might I be looking at from the previous owner riding it that way?
Excessive heat, popping on deceleration, spark plugs pure white. If your gas mileage is really high like 50+ mpg there probably isn't a fuel mgt system. Look for a a box plugged into the ecm which is under the seat. The box may be there, under the seat, or in behind the frame and rear fender down low.
not a dumb question , a very good one. if you search the forums you will find lots of answers and lots of opinions because there are lots of products and each has its price and advantage. as a starting i went with a pclll because used price was low and dyno tunes were cheap. now the labor for a tune is close to $400 here so i went with an auto tune that i found used on the forum classified.
