Default Rocker help - license relocation

Hey guys, has anyone seen a product available or someone do a mod that allows you to keep the license plate on the rear fender but allow for a somewhat significant chop to the fender and still look good.

I bought a Kuryakyn sidemount plate to relocate it but I was in the HD dealership today and had mentioned I was moving the plate and they warned me not too. Apparently one of their previous models on the floor had a side mounted plate from factory and they had a few owners come back in last summer with complaints that they had recieved tickets for having them off to the side and the dealership had to move them. I was aware the plate had to be horizontal but I was not aware it could not be down on the side. I prefer not to give the guys in blue any reason they can to nail me with another ticket and raise my insurance?

Anyone have any ideas or point me in some direction here? I could leave it where it is but I think the Rocker looks 10 times better when it shows off more of that back tire.

depends where u live, diff states have diff laws with license position...
u could prolly chop the fender and then reinstall the same plate mount further up by just drilling the same 4 hole template up further and just adjust the angle of the plate itself
gl and post pics of however u decide to mod it!!!

Check the laws for your state on the AMA site. http://www.amadirectlink.com/legisltn/laws.asp There are plenty of nice options for side mounts. Check out Heartland , RSD, Roto Plate, etc...

Sorry guys forgot to mention I am from Canada. Luckily I was considering going with the Roto-Plate and dropping my Kuryakyn but hadn't ordered it yet. I contemplated moving the factory holder up and might have to go that route but hoping to have some other options.
