Looking to change the seat on my 2010 Fat Boy Lo and looking for suggestions. Want a seat that I can ride 400-600 miles in a day and live to tell about it.
I tried a couple different ones and ended up back where I started. I tried a stock fatboy seat, a HD badlander, and ended up going back to the Lo seat. It was way more comfortable than those other two. The only way to get good comfort is to give up "fashion".
I have gone through every seat known to man on Touring and Softail bikes and there are 2 that for me stand out above the rest. The Harley Signature series and the Saddlemen Explorer, both with rider backrests. My .02.
About a month after I bought my Fatboy, I installed a Harley Badlander seat. I was stoked, because the seat looked awesome... and then I sat on it. It only took me about 30 seconds to realize that my 57 year old butt would not survive for very long on that seat. Talk about a waste of money. I took the Badlander seat off, stuck it back in the box it came in and re-installed the stock seat. It may not look as cool, but the factory seat is "way" more comfortable.
not worried about cool as much as I am about how my south end feels. The stock seat works for me I was just wondering if there was a better one out there.
I have a Sundowner, a LePera BareBones Gel, and the factory seat reworked by MeanCityCyle on my 08 FatBoy...When all is said and done, the only seat that stays on the bike is the Mustang I listed below. The adjustable drivers backrest can't be beat for comfort on the highway. I'm crowding the hell out of 60, btw.

#79532 - 17.5" Wide Studded Solo With Driver Backrest Softail Wide Tire 2006 - 2010 Seats for the Softail 200mm wide tire fit FXST 2006 - 2010, FLSTF...
I have the sport mustang seat with studs and back rest. I must say this is an excellent seat. You have support when you need it and for driving those short trips you can have the looks. the sport seat is just a narrower version of the wide studded solow. I have the back seat for it to when I have a passenger. I also have used the saddleman profiler version seats and they are pretty comfortable to, but the mustang wins overall in my book.
