Default 88 cube v 96 cube?

Is there anyone yet that has had a ride on the new softail so they can compare the power and torque between the 88 and 96 cube engines?

Not me because I am afraid I would want to buy one! Darn they would have to go and put in a six speed tranny to go with that 96 cu in engine.

I'm curious to see a bone stock 88 and a bone stock 96 on a dyno comparison.
I wonder if they didn't do some changes for the EPA and the extra 8 cubes doesn't really make all that much differance.
Just my thoughts I may be wrong but then again I may be on the right track.

I bought a '07 FXST last saturday. Still waiting for the motor to break in though. My dad has a '04 Deuce with a stage 1 A/C and exhaust. I have to say his felt like it had a little more low end, but less midrange. My bike's still breaking in so we'll see what happens when I get some more miles on it.

The only real difference in the new 96 is the stroke. More than likely they will have more lowend torque, but not much if any more topend.

Not saying that I still really want a new 07 Night Train with the 200 rear, 6 speed and the 96 CI.

From what I have seen on the '06 Dynas and what I have read about the '07 bikes, there is really no emissions equipment at all on HDs. They just meet the EPA standards by leaning out the mixture and use the ECM to keep it that way. That's all easily changed by getting a sert or a PCIII. The new bikes should make considerably more torque and have a real smooth power band. Even on the California models, the only real EPA equipment is the charcoal cannister.

Seems I read somewhere that there is a catalytic converter on the front pipe with an O2 sensor. I know the 05 California models had the carbon canister, but seems the 06 had the other stuff. Anyone?

No cat on the '07s except for the Harley international models.

How are you breaking it in? For the '07s, you only have to keep it under 4k for the the first 50 miles and under 5k for the next 450 miles. Once you get past the first 50 miles, you're pretty much free to go.
