I have been hearing reports of excessive heat on some of the new bikes any one with an 07 finding this. My dealer had a 07 screamin eagle i think road glide and they said it sounded bad and that they were not impressed they were on the phone with Harley Davidson trying to find out if something was wrong with it. There shop Forman said it sounded like sloppy pistons. My true option I would NEVER buy any thing the first year it comes out. You can bet there will be changes next year as the problems start to show up. I firmly believe in the never buy any thing the first year it is released, I would buy an 06 or wait until 08 this is just my personal option

This debate has gone on for years, everytime HD puts out a new engine. 74, 80, 88, 95, 103 Now we start again? 96, 110? Come on, things change. Frankly I tickled to death to see the bigger engines.

What do you call expensive? I did it to an 03 FLHTC/I the gear set ran me less than 1500. This is how Urban Myth's get started.

sleepneagle if your refering to the six speed trans then the increase in the 07s is worth it I beleive the price jumped less tha a thousand dollars. if some one wants to have a six put in there bike which now has a five and they do not want to do it them selfs then they are looking at better than $3000 dollars at a harley dealer. there for the increase is not that bad

in 04 you could get a full trans or gear set. The gear set required a minor mod to the 5 spd case. I did the gear set. Parts and labor less than 2k.

Lets face it Harley is under pressure to build bigger engines because of the enterprising folks like S&S revteck and others who are building them bigger and bigger, They are trying to stop the bleeding of lost sales to the other bikes available with big engines bigger tires and custom bikes. The bigger Harley engines are bogged down with EPA standards. I would rather have an engine built then buy one of them factory screamin eagle deals they sell which cost about the same if you have one built without the EPA restrictions. The difference is that when bought from Harley you still have your warrantee. If you have your local dealer do an upgrade to 95 for 103 110 and its not the street legal version you void your warrantee most dealers will still honor the warrantee on other parts of the bike. The competition is great for the consumer. I believe when the jap bikes started to come out wish there versions of a Harley the competition steeped up and Harley started making better bikes. Its called survival. I applaud them for there efforts and they have made some of there nicest looking bikes in the past few years.
