Default Heavy Breather HD Download needed?

I am looking at getting a Screamin Eagle Heavy Breather installed on a 09 Fatboy. If I put "only" the Heavy Breather on and leave the stock exhaust on it will I still need to have the HD Stage 1 Download installed on the bike?

Thanks!

T

Don't waste your money on the download, get an efi tuning device. Vut to answer your qeustion, yes. If you add more air you need to enrich the fuel mixture for it to run properly. If you add an air filter only with nothing else your bike will run extremely lean. The Harley download has to be in spec with the EPA so it will still run quite lean with that. Get a pwoer commander, TTS, Thudnermax, etc. etc, etc...

The HD re-flash of your ECM will run you about 150.00 vs just under 300.00 for a Power Commander. The thing is though, that a re-flash will still keep you running relatively lean, and if you do any modifications in the future (different exhaust etc...) that re-flash will no longer be useful, you'll have to get a fuel management system at that time or have HD re-flash you again. I would spend a little more and have a lot more flexability for future changes.

Also, I'm sure that in the near future you'll be getting pipes! Thus, you'll need a 2nd download @ $150.

A good air cleaner with stock pipes likely won't benefit you much, unless you are just after the look.

You need a download or a tuning device, Fuelmoto will likely have one with a map close to what you need.

yea, I was going for looks of the Heavy Breather that's why I asked. Wasn't looking for any performance improvement at this time.
