Default Night Train & Deuce

I ride a Dyna but I'd like to know the difference between a Night train and a Deuce. I know the Deuce is discontinued and that they had different motors. The profile looks similar to me. Is a Night Train an improvement on the Deuce? I like the looks of both of them and maybe in the future I might buy a used one. Any input would be appreciated. TIA.

Default Deuce

A deuce is more like a sleeker Softail Custom, in my opinion.

The major differences are the cut off fender, different bars, a different fuel tank instrument cluster and the seat/sissy bar combo. Generally, they seem sleeker and less blocky than the Custom....and I ride a Custom. Ps, they have a solid rear tire that is ribbed.

The Nightrain is identical to the Custom except for the bars, the seat/sissy bar combo and the black...and I do like the black.

Last I heard the Deuce was more expensive to make with the chrome, like the Custom, and the custom parts. My only dislike of the Deuce is the rear fender, I just prefer the bobtail to a cutoff.

The deuces are nice and I would not be surprised if they come back and replace the Custom in a few years, I also think the train will be back.

(back in Black?)

Mike

If you look close theres a lot of differances between the two.

With the train you can use all the parts from pretty much any softail besides the duece.

They both have the exact same motor and the frames are almost identical. Both are discontinued. The Train is the same bike as the softail custom and softail standard, just different bars, seat and colors.

The Deuce has a lot more chrome from the factory (forks, motor pieces, dash, etc). The 2 biggest differences are the Deuce has a 160 rear tire (and room for a 180 or even a 200 if desired) and the Train would only have a 150 up to 05 then a 200 from 06-09. The other main difference is the tank. The deuce tank is stretched on the deuce compared to a train, giving it a sleaker look. There are many other obvious differences that are more just astetic like rear fender, solid rear wheel, and other stuff.

My son had a 07Deuce and now has a 09 NT..
His biggest complaint on the Deuce was when buying add ons.. the part books has a lot of softail items that says ( fits all but the Deuce.)
the train is a lot more comfortable that it with stock bars..the trains reach isn't as bad.

After a yr of owning the Deuce he didn't like the stretched tank or rear fender anymore and all the reasons above is why he went with the Train...

Oh, they both have have the same TC, B motor if the yr of the bike is the same.

nightrain is a blacked out softail standard basically, deuce has a stretched tank, different rear fender which i dont like, slight rake, lots of chrome solid rear wheel, wire front, but the best handling softail, you can run a 170 on standard rear rim!

Yep, the Train & the Deuce have both been favorites of mine, but I sure never confused the two...nothing alike...

I love both and had the opportunity to chose a green Train over my purple Deuce but I love the rear fender and the tank on the deuce. I was leaning towards Victory for my big twin American cycle, a Jackpot to be exact and when I saw the Deuce it reminded me so much of the sleek lines on the Jackpot and of course the way mine was setup and the deal I got I couldnt pass it up. If i get a chance however to get a black on black Train at some point I will not pass it up to sit beside my Deuce.
