So I rejetted my carb, put a stage 1 cleaner on, and out torque cones on because my samson exhaust are staight pipes of course. But now I cant seem to get it to start. It fires but only with some ether. It wont stay running though. Please help?
sounds like your not getting any fuel. does that model have a vacum petcock? if so either fill the floatbowl, or pull a vacum on the petcock to fill the bowl. where are you at on the pilot jet, and how many turns on the screw? steve.
well i dont know a lot about carbs but i just replaced 2 jets...not sure what jet is what and then put everythingback together and turned the fuel mixture screw out 1 3/4"out from slightly seated.
is the fuel turned on? Are all the vacuum hoses hooked up? there's one vacuum hose that opens up the fuel valve on the petcock which allows fuel to flow.
I had a springer softail that if it ever snarfed threw the carb when starting, it would blow that vacuum hose off and about a mile down the road the bike would shut down.
The carb bowl should have a brass drain plug, hold a jar under it and remove it. Better yet, you have an accelerator pump, with the air cleaner off twist the throttle and gas should squirt out of that little brass rod in the begining of the venturi, if it does then there is gas in the bowl.
If you have gas in the bowl then it's probably either an assembly error or dirt.
