Default Ape hanger install

A little help. I'm just about fnished with my install of a pair of 18" HCC apes on an 08 Heritage. I saw a thread about what riser to use "because I know the stock risers won't work".

I'm using the stock risers and don't "see" any problem at this point. Do I have a rude awakening coming? Why won't the stock risers work?

BTW....doesn't there have to be a better way to route the switch control wiring in the switch covers.....what a PITA!

Stock risers should be fine. The only time Heritage risers wont work is if your bars are 1 1/4 (or 1 1/2) all the way through (not reduced to 1" at the riser). In fact, I'm using stock Heritage risers on my train.

Post some pics, bro.

When you turn your bars side to side do they hit the tank?

Most of the time when ppl say that the stock risers wont work are when they are referring to Fat Boy bars and risers. Fat Boys (newer) use 1.25" bars all the way through with no reduction at the riser. So the risers for those bars are 1.25. The HCC bars reduce to 1" at the riser so you would need new risers that are 1" dia, as I did. I used wild ones 535 and 525 clamps. Hope that Helps and Welcome aboard!

They will work. The HCC bars are 1 1/4" and tapered down to 1" for the controls and riser area. I have the stock top clamp on mine. Like someone else said, get some hard poly bushings.
