Default Jiffy Stand

For those of you who have removed your stock stand to put on a rear mount stand, is it really necessary to disconnect the shift linkage and remove the three support bracket bolts? Experience and perspective greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't remember for sure if you 'have to' or not, but even if you do, it's a quick/easy 5 minute job if that's what you were wondering.
