Default cams

I tried a search, but didn't really find too much.....may have been how I worded it. What cam are most of you guys that have swapped running? On my Road King, I was close to going to a SE 255, curious as to what guys are running in the softails....that will be my next big upgrade

Unless you are going to do head work, 255's are going to be a little much. I would think you would have to increse the compression. 203 or 204's are the best harley cam for a stock motor. you could go with a comparable s&s. My bike is at Custom Hawg having 203's, the new se cam plate/ oil pump, a daytona twintec adjustable ignition and a new S&S carb. Can what to get it back.

So just to interject here, what added benefit would the SE203 or SE204 cam give you on a stock motor without any headwork or other mods except the typical stage 1 (Pipes, AC, Fuel Mgmt)? Is the difference from stock cams to one of these SE models that noticable?

You might want to look at the Woods TW-6-6cam over the SE255.

More low end. I ride a tc88 and people with 96"'s are always asking how my bike can be faster than theirs, even when we all have a nice stage 1 setup.

I have seen some very nice dyno with a stock 96" and 255's. These would be at the top of my short list if I had a 96" and wanted a cam only upgrade.

Yep. Nice low to mid bump with 21's, a 2n1 in an 88".

There are plenty of other good options. Next time I break it open I'll throw something different.
