Default 255

have them and like them with the 103 Stage 11 build.

Everything I read shows 203, woods or 255's

I wanted low to mid range and I am a heavy guy, so I looked a lot at what the touring bikes ran.

I have S&S 510G's and am happy with them. No more worry about cam chain tensioners and I didn't have to do any headwork for them. I will probably have to do a top end on mine within the next couple of years and I will beef it up with a big bore kit and some head work. I am considering installing some hotter cams at that time.

I have 204's in mine and they work very well, big change over stock. The 255's pull real strong at the bottom but do fall off early

That's kind of what I figured with the 255s, they are more of a low to mid range from what I have read, which is why I think a lot of guys in the touring section are using them. One of the local Indy's here quoted me $1275 for parts and labor, with a S&S 510, but that quote was for gear drive. Still not sure if I want to do gear drive or not...

Gear drive in an 09? Guys usually go gear drive in pre 07 bikes to get rid of the spring tensioner setup. imo - gears are a waste of money in your 09. And, installing cams in your 09 is a lot easier than earlier bikes. $1300 for cams is a lot of money. Performance wise, the gear drive will buy you nothing that you will notice when riding. Get some tools, a manual, a friend, this forum... whatever it takes and replace them your self and save $8-$900... One other thing to consider, depending on what parts/cams you use, it may or may not void your engine warranty.
