oil comes out air filter causes?
Thanks guys that has got to be it b/c it is definitely at the top of the oil stick and the heat would expand it, GOD I LOVE THIS FORUM
But now after reading further I see its just a little overfill.
When the crank splash happens from overfill it causes the airfilter pcv tubes to pick up extra oil and soak the filter. The only other reason is worn out rings or a cracked one and that is doubtful. Heat expansion on too high an oil level seems to be the cause to me. In other words the crank is splashing in the oil. I run my oil a little below the full mark, about 1/4 quart

I was an automotive mechanic before that, and I always say run your oil in the engine a little below the full mark and never right on it to prevent splash back. Ask any professional mechanic and he will tell you the same.
So when the oil gets a bit too hot, the scavenge pump isn't as effective at getting all the oil out of the engine at lower RPM's.
Now get stuck in traffic where the higher temps starts thinning the oil, the engine is just idleing most of the time, have the level a bit high and TA DA.
You have oil dripping out of the AC.
Its not a serious problem, but it should be something you want to avoid. Excess oil in the AC will sooner or later screw up the air filter and start choking the engine into sucking gas like there's no tomorrow (especially with a carb).
Best bet is to use the least amount of oil in the tank that's practical and that's usually filling it to the lower line on the dips stick and not the upper one like a car engine. That's usually about 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 quarts for a big twin.
Also, I have been told that "pucking" doesn't hurt anything.
One sure way to make the oil blow thru the ac is to hot rod the bike or hit the rev limiter and catch a blue light..
