Default softail tank

doesanyone know if a gas tank from a 1996 softail is the same fitment as a 1998 softail tank. i know the graphics are the same but i'm not 100 % sure if they are the same part #

I'm pretty sure 1999 is the cut off date. 99 and before are interchangeable and 2000 and later are interchangeable. Call your local dealer and see what the service department says.

Yes. They're the same. They change in 2000. Wiseguy2day is correct. They are 4.2 gal. in 2000 they go to 5 gal.
