Default shifter linkage length?

I bought a new linkage that is suppose to fit my 2000 fatboy. at the shortest adjustment it is still about 3/4" longer than the stock rod. can I use this or no?

Do you have enough adjustment in the levers to move them back to a normal position. If you do then yes you can use it.

you're talking about moveing the shifter pedal on the splined shaft?

Yes...Disconnect the old one.
and adjust the new one to be as close to the old ones length as possible.
Then just allow the shifter shaft to extend as far as need be to accept the new shift linkage.

Your foot shifter will position itself to a new position and you will probably say WTF!

Simply remove the shifter from the shifter shaft spline and reposition it back to your normal shifting position.

Your done.

You can cut 3/8 off each side of the new one if you dont want to move your shifter.I had to last week.
