I have an 11 FLHTK and the heal toe shifter keeps coming apart where the splined shaft connects to the linkage. It fell of the othe day and I loosened the bolt and put it back on, tight. and it did it again only 3 rides later.
Any suggestions on what could be causing this and how I can get it to stop. Im going on a LONG trip and dont need this to happen when Im 500 miles from home!
It has been too long since I had mine apart, isn't there a narrow spot on the shaft that the bolt goes past and as long as the bolt is there, the lever shouldn't fall off? I would think some blue loktite and the proper torque would eliminate the repeat problem....unless something else is wrong. Is the allen socket head stripped so the proper torque can't be applied?
Yes but it doesnt seem like the bolt is coming loose it is like it is slipping off the end. the spline has a grove in it that keeps the bolt riding down the middle. seems to be popping out of it
