fairly simple.....none of the stock harley krinkle finish was salvageable because of the spray paint. the cam cover, rocker boxes, pushrod tubes, outer primary, outer trans cover were sent out for powder coating. the harley krinkle finish is known as "tuxedo" at an aftermarket powdercoating shop. while the parts were getting the coated, the motor cases, cyllinders, and trans block were cleaned with 2+2 (kinda like a strong carb cleaner) and a wire brush. aircraft remover used on the tough areas. then the parts were painted with a high heat engine paint (we used cast for an old school look, but we could have used the harley krinkle finish spray cans just as easily for a stock look). a few new gaskets and chrome bolts and this motor looks brand new.
