Apples and oranges is right.
If you ride mostly around town, you will probably have more fun on the VROD. Even for touring, if you ride solo, the VROD is fine (a seat replacement is a must though - I am very happy with the Sundowner for the VROD). If you ride 2-up, the VROD leaves a lot to be desired. Like the man said, try to test ride them both before you buy, and let us know when you pull the trigger.
All these responses are GREAT!!!!!!(but you guys arnt making the decision any easier!!!)I guess the thing to do is just get out and ride each one for a bit and make a decision.anybody know off hand what a 300 rear tire convertion would run on the night train.(I had an 07' Big Dog K-9 with a 300, that and the wicked paint are the things i miss most, im now wanting all black but still want that wide azz tire.)thanks for all the replys and honest input. What a great site!!later STING
I might sell my Rocker now and i am thinking about Nightrod. I like Nightrod a lot. But what about the sound. I love sound of my Rocker with VH pipes. I heard few V rods and they all sound horrible. Any idea to get closer to classic HD sound?
Interesting, sounds familiar to me. I looked really hard at a night rod with a 260 tire on it balcked out and also looked at a night train hard a couple years ago. Then I saw a heartland catalog with a rocker on the front. Decision was made!!! My buddy offered me his 06 big dog with a 300 and 117 in it for 15k which is what I payed for my rocker with 600 miles on it. I rode the big dog and LOVED the power, but carburated vs FI and chrome vs PC made my decision easier.
Regardless of what you get, you will be happy because you will spend a shtload of money on it and make it how you want it.
Night rod special is what the next Batman movie bike would be...it's cool, i would swap out the fenders, change the bars, headlight, wheels, get some radical paint, and.....er...yeah....buy a Nightrain
If I had trouble deciding between these two I'd get the night rod. Same bikes one is just alot more modern, apples to apples to me ...though I prefer old school.
