Has any one lowered there springer front end? Looking at doing it just wondering if there are pro or cons to it. Any advice would be great. Oh im looking at the burly(hope i spelt it right) lowering springs.
i just did mine, all it takes is patience and a couple of good tools, small picks/hooks to get some of the rubber bushings out, that and the compression tool, the tool i bought did the trick but really cheap quality, i guess it does not matter as i wont have to use it again, you can actually make one by buying threaded rod @ home depot or lowes and a couple of nuts, 3 or 4 of them, get the larger stronger nuts and the larger rod, just measure the diameter, about 10 minutes to cut the rod and make it yourself, or around $20 to buy the kit....took about 3 hours taking my time, buy strong cable ties, you need them to hold the springer forks in place when you compress them.....not complicated but you need to be methodical, no beer for me until i finished, not complicated at all if you are some what handy
PM 97fxstbs. He's done it and is a damn nice guy he'll help ya out.
If I was able to PM people I would for some reason I cant do S&*^ with my account I can't even view pics that I have posted. I sent a message to one person but I dont know if anything is going to get taken care of.
I know what you mean about cromprssing the springs had to do the same thing when I had to replace a disphriam in an 8" clave valve when I was a gunners mate in the navy. Took all day and we had to compress a spring that was almost 3 feet tall into something that was about 12' tall. pain in the *** but I totaly understand where you are coming from. How did you like the ride after you installed the springs and did you notice the look alot?
Hell, I.just used.my moto.tie downs to compress the springs.for.servicing. I like the look of a lowered springer fork, but am holding back. A leading link fork blows through travel quickly, and dont think loosimg travel.is a.good mod. My pipes, pegs and kickstand. Have all.been ground down to nothing already.

I will try to PM him.
Thanks
Looking forward to see more pics of your bike!
From what I know, (HDForums rules) you need to have been registrered for more than 30 days & have more than 26 posts (which I can see you have).
I have done mine. Wasnt a bad mod just take your time and follow the steps. Also go with some pretty good size zip ties. Didnt at first and had one pop while compressing springs. As for the ride it is a stiffer feeling front end but not to bad. I really look the look it gives though. If you got any question about it just shoot me a PM.
