Olcrazy. It is not a good idea to jack the bike against the shocks...but it may or may not hurt the shock. However, it does make it less stable. I bought the hd frame protectors...#94675-99 list at @15.95. Work great but not real easy to get on...don't forget to take them off when you let the jack down. I modified the two piece kit to be four. Gives more flexibilty when working on the bike. They work great but beware...they take up space between the frame and the jack. With my bike lowered i have to run it up on mini-ramps. By the way, i also have the yellow harbor frieght it has proven to work well many times. Good luck...

I just put the rear rail of my jack just in front of the shocks, under the cross member that the shocks go through. the front rail is just in front of the engine and it works fine.

Exactly the way I do it too. Zero issues for me.

I put the jack in with my coke and it worked GREAT. Lol. Have the Harbor Freight Jack, and no complaints. Even with my bike being lowered. All about placement.

I know lots of people that don't sweat it and go for it.Me being one of them. The rubber on the jack absorbes most of the difference. Never ever heard of anyone damaging a stock shock due to jacking it up. But who knows. I know after hundreds of lifts I have zero problems.

although i stated above that i have the frame adapters, i don't always use them. I personally agree the risk of damage is very slight. I have a couple hd techs as friends and both have stated (out of the shop) that the shocks shouldn't be harmed under normal maintenance. So...

I posted this last yr,,,
Just go to a auto store and buy a 1ft length of 3/4'' or 1'',- 1/4 thick rubber radiator hose.
Cut it into two 6'' pieces.. then split it down the middle lengthwise and place it over Ur frame tubes on each side of the shocks.
Now U have protection for the shocks when U jack her up, I've used them for 3yrs and when storing it all winter it keeps the pressure off the shocks.

Why risk it? Buy the adapters for $15.00. ...then you won't have to screw with teh position of the jack to miss the shocks.

Seems like a no brainer to me.

I don't think it's worth worrying about. I have been jacking my fatboy up on it's shocks for 3 years now with no issues.
