Default drag bars

I have an 07 fxst, I want to switch stock bars for the drag style, I just think they look better. I don't want to spend alot. What bar and how much trouble would it be? Cables should still be ok shouldn't they? thanks for any help

Well i would tell you to go with the custom cycle control drag bars however you said you dont want to spend alot. I know that J&P Cycles has quit a few different style drag bars for a fair price. They should not be to much trouble to install do you want something that has internal wires? if you do you would have to disconnect from the plug to run the wires through the bars. Also if you go with some bars that are 34" tip to tip with the center of the drag bar being about 8" you should be fine with your stock cables. anyone can correct me if wrong. hope this helps.

I did this conversion last year with my '05 FXST. I was going for the stock 'train look and used all NT parts. I found the stock NT drag bars a bit narrow for me and switched to a 33" Flanders drag bar. I found the a bit wide... OOPS.

I had the 33"ers cut down to a shade over 30" and found the sweet spot!! At 30", the bar width allows you the use of either 6" or 4" straight risers. With the narrower stock NT bars and 4" risers, your controls will most likely hit the tank... Not good!!

Stock cables "can" be used. BUT.... Be prepared to do some creative routing to eliminate some (not all) of the extra loops.

If you go with the narrrow NT bars... 6" risers. If you go wider... 4" will work but do "bend you over" a bit more.

Looking for lower cost? Her ya go... I took a different direction with my bike and all my NT conversion parts are for sale and listed in the classifieds section. Bars, risers, cables, brake line... Check in both the softail and multi-fit sections. Everything but the throttle/idles cables is just a waitin' for ya...

PM me if you need any assstance or have over questions...
