Default Bars on a Train question

Was quoted 5 hours of labor to change bars to internally wired bars on my train?

That seems like a lot...I know the cables need to be changed as the new bars will have some pullback and are much wider but 5 hours?

Thoughts?

PS They were oversize Burly bars with a small amount of pullback. I dug em.

What risers will you be using? I had my bars switched with internal wiring and there was no need to change the wires. If the stock wires can be used then 3 hours seems more reasonable.

I am using a Super Burly Drag bar. 1-1/2 inch bar with built in risers.

I think the stock cables MIGHT work....but we had the tank off already and their is little to NO slack there and with the wider bars I'd rather be safe than sorry.

So would 5 hours for changing all cables, extending the wires and running inside the bars be a close estimation of the time involved?

I just did street slammers myself... they are internally wired and I didnt change anything. I think I could do it quicker now but the first time it did take me about 5 hours or so. Pulling the wires through is a real PITA... but I managed. I would consider saving yourself some money and trying to do it yourself. I just picked up a service manual (kinda expensive at 60 bucks) but it has paid for itself many times over already..
Just a thought,
Chris

Yep, that's about right. I put Wild1 501s on my Night Train. Even if you don't have to lengthen the wires you still have to cut and splice them. Mine needed lengthened, and the brake line had to be lengthened as well. (So I took the occasion to go to braided lines) It's a lot of work. For some reason I didn't think it'd be that big a deal, but it is.

I didnt cut a single wire doing mine... all I did was pull the tank back and pull the wires out of the weather tight connector under the tank... keeps you from having to do any splicing at all and just plugs back in when you're done.
