Do you plan on moving them somewhere else on the back or take them off/replace with something else? I've had to move mine twice...once to make room for the detachable setup, and then again when the cheap hollow bolt that H-D sells broke in half two months later. Fixed it by carefully attaching the turn signals to the taillight. Matches up great and they are out of the way.
I took my front one off and they won't flash anymore, had to put back on. There might be a way around it, I look in the service manual wiring section, still not sure how to make it work.
I bought a plate holder with the signals on the sides off ebay. For the fronts, I used the mirrors with the signals in them. Cleaned my '06 night train up a lot.
Most of the sites that have the led lights including customdynamics.com, featured on this forum, offer load equalizers to compensate for the low draw by the LEDs. These may work to compensate for removing the signals all together.
I was planning on removing the rear signals completely. and use the ones built into the pancea tail light from Kuryakyn.
1. I have a detachable sissy bar and don't like the tail light relocation kit.
2. I was going to trim the side plates to work but the chrome caps (when sissy bar isn't used) to hide the docking hardware hits the turn signal anyway.
3. Turn signals on motorcycles are not mandatory in New Jersey.
