Default Load Equalizer Question

Ok, here's the deal...... I just installed some autogem derringer lights on the bones, i have a LED taillight and a RSD Lic. plate bracket that is also LED. The turnsignals function normally.

I have heard that not having a load equalizer can burn up the auto turnsignal cancellation module. I did buy a Badlands III, do i need to install it or can i just leave things as they are?

Any help would be appreciated.

The only purpose of a load equalizer is to simulate the higher resistive load of incandescent lamps, compared to LEDs. If everything functions normally, you don't need one. The flasher (TSSM) doesn't care whether the resistive load is from the stock lamps or LEDs with a load equalizer.

I added the H-D license plate frame with LEDs and a couple of LEDs to light my license. Spliced this in to the tail light wiring. As a note, I also have that thing that turns your rear signals into running lights. Well, my right signal is going haywire. It flashes real quick and half the time won't self cancel and sometimes I can't cancel it with the switch. I know about the load equalizer (don't think I need one), because I didn't switch out regular bulbs for LEDs, I just added some LEDs to my existing lights. I removed the running light black box, thought that might be the problem, but it's still doing it. The right signal flashes normally about 5 or 6 times, then speeds way up. WTF???? Next step is to remove all the LEDs I added and see if that fixes it. Hope I didn't burn something out... TSM???

If the lights are working properly then I wouldnt add it.

What wire did you you use for the LED lights?

Sounds like you are tied into the right signal wire which is then messing with the voltage. Make sure you are tied into the running light wire in the taillight.

interesting, that's the way i feel, don't want to do anything i don't have to. The Kuryaken LED's that my brother in law has says in the instructions, if lights function normally no need for the equalizer.

I think i may let it ride. thanks for the help.

Had the same problem, signals would be fine for first few times and then go real fast. Load equalizer did the trick. Cost another $29 i think.

I have the HD Run/Brake/Turn module for rears and an LED side mount brake, and the Auto Gem rear turns, but kept the stock HD for front. When I talked w/ Badlands they told me I didn't need their load equalizer unless I put LED on the front. No problems to report so far.

Does the Auto Gem rear turnsignals work with the Panacea system so that i get red running lights and amber turnsgnals on the rear? Dual filament?
