I know this topic has been addressed a 1000 times, but after months of researching the various threads on this site, company websites, you tube, you name it I'm still undecided on pipes for my 09' Fat Boy and I need advise.
I thought I had it down to the D&D Fat Cat 2 into 1 until I read about them scraping on corners especially on lowered bikes. My list has narrowed to V&H Big Shot Longs and the V&H Big Radius 2 into 1.
Out of the 3 I've listed, which 1 fits the mold of
A.) Moderate performance gain with Stage 1 and PCV
B.) Nice sound without destroying my hearing on day long rides
Any advised would help greatly. I just want to be happy first time around.. I've read a bunch of horror stories regarding this topic all winter.
What about the D&D Low Cats? Almost like the fat cats, but curve up a little in the back. I just ordered a set for my Xbones from Dr. V-Twin with a pretty good forum discount.
I do like the looks of the D&D, but my only experience with D&D was a set of their slip-ons that I installed on my Deuce - same set as the Fat Boy, but WAY too loud for me. I'm currently running Supertrapp 2:1, and have zero regrets. Like the sound and look - very similar to the D&D. Sound is tuneable.
Thanks for the advise.. I'm starting to lean toward the Big Shot longs. Hope Dr. V-Twin can square me away! Next up the wife's Iron 883. She's getting pretty savvy when it comes to bikes only after a years worth of riding so I can't get cheap when it comes to her bike.
