Default shift linkage sticking.....Help!

So, I rode to work the other day and it started to rain when it was parked in the lot. I ran outside and put it in the warehouse and dried it off. Today the shifter will shift but I have to help it to come back to center. I sprayed the linkage with WD40 incase some rust was holding it up but no luck. Any ideas?

get some rem-oil from wal-mart. it is a synthetic gun lube that comes in a can like wd-40 with the little tube. spray it in the pivot shaft where the shifter mounts and work it in real good. no more sticky shifter. unless you have a bigger problem than dirt and corrosion.

rickB... is right take it apart clean and lube it up... It's gunked up in there and sprays like wd40 may help temp. but you gotta clean out the old gummed up grease and lube it. You'll be much happier then a quick fix. It's real easy first time it'll take you about 10 to 15 min.
mind the plastic bushing and how it came apart.
