I grew up in the central valley, I have to admit I do miss all the great riding weather.

Summers suck, it's bakertucky (Bakersfield) but where else in the country can you ride year round and be with in 2 hours of the beach, mountains and desert.

Same in Sactown (sacatomatos). Storms lined up out in the ocean now.

Default Winter upgrades

Even though I just recently picked up my '12 Fat Boy Lo I had some money burning a hole in my pocket! The dealers run winter discounts for parts and labor, mine is going to trailer my bike roundtrip from my storage. I have a 3yr no mileage service plan, and 3 year Harley ESP so I kept this in mind and is the only reason I chose SE parts over aftermarket. My dealer will warranty my bike, and they explained most dealers will not screw me on the warranty If I broke down but they reminded me its a risk I run. I called another dealer in a nearby state and reviewed parts and pricing and warranty and they said the same thing about covering me with ESP.

So I pulled the trigger on the Stage III pro kit. This started originally with the desire to just do cams. I also ordered Avon Cobras through J&P cycles (cheapest I found online) and with some negotiations the dealer is installing them at no charge.

Further explanation on this one, the bike came with the OEM dunlops and on close inspection I noticed dry rot in the tires. Since I have a 30 day warranty on a used bike, the dealer is doing the right thing and installing the tires free and crediting me what I paid for the tires on my labor invoice. This is because I escalated the issue. He explained he would have provided Dunlops no charge, but out of frustration I ordered the tires days ago with the intention of going elsewhere. I already paid in full for all the parts and they are going to give me a little more off the labor too because they could have done better on the discounted pricing. Once the work is done I will post the Dealers name, I just want to ensure this big job goes smooth and everything works out. It took a few days of phone calls to get to here but I am anxiously awaiting this upgrade. Time to relax on the shopping now, I did some cosmetic upgrades and LEDs recently. However, I am really thinking about a P&P throttle body next! I would rather do engine work now then when they get busy in the spring. Oh and I am getting the 5k service done also, included in my service plan.

This is my first post in this thread I believe so here is 2 pics of my fat boy lo before the LEDs upgrade and smoked lens:

Just got off the phone with a buyer for my victory so up next will be shotgun shocks and alloy art softail passenger foot pegs. I'm also thinking about changing the primary, tranny and cam covers to wrinkle black. I don't mind a little chrome but the brushed aluminum kinda stands out to much.

Problem with all that is then I gotta change out the forks etc... never ending parts list. The damned bug bit me.. bit me hard haha

My BR 1.5" bars and risers finally came in and they look outrageous!! BR is as good as it gets! And these risers are huge. I can't wait till the decent weather gets back so I can try them out. So now, if money isn't the issue, which cables do you guys think are better, looks and quality wise, Magnum black Pearl or Harley black diamond? I've managed to save enough for either but all I hear is good on Magnum and not really much on Harley one way or the other? Magnums seem to be more on the charcoal side, color wise, right? I'd rather have true black but haven't seen either in person, but doubt I can go wrong either way? Anybody care to chime in?

Have a look at Barnett cables. They make a nice black cable that has all black fittings. Bought a complete set for the old Street Bob.

Barnett or Burly Brand cables. I'm using Burly Brand, and have no problems. They're essentially the exact same cable (between these two), with black fittings and black cables
