Update on the BoomAudio windshield speaker system. If your going to use one make sure you use a good MP3 Player. With my little Sansa Clip the output was so weak that I could not hear the music above 60 Mph. I tried it out with the wife's Ipod and it is way better, I could hear it at 70mph no problems. I guess it's time for a new MP3 Player. Looking at a Cowon D2 Plus which has one of the best outputs and battery life on the market. I refuse to buy anything Apple.

Default Need a little help

Hello and thanks in advance for your time and expertise. I have a 2010 Fatboy Lo and have seen the amazing upgrades and work done by members of this forum.

I am looking at customizing my bike with a Stage 1 upgrade. I researched the components I wanted to add and requested a Quote from my local dealer. Here is the outcome:

Vance and Hines Big Radius Exhaust, 2-into-2 = $799.95 Part#1800-0746
Labor to install exhaust = $170.00(2 hours)

Screamin’ Eagle Heavy Breather Air Cleaner Kit = $299.95 Part#29098-09
Labor to install heavy breather = $85.00(1 hour)

Screamin Eagle Pro Super Tuner = $459.95 Part#32109-08B
Dynamometer the Motorcycle = $280.00 (the super tuner is used to interface the laptop to the bike while dynoing the bike)

Kuryakyn Lighted Curved Laydown License Plate Frame - $69.95
Labor to Install license plate frame = $85.00 (1 hour)

Total which includes tax and shop supplies - $2437.25

The quote seems rough (read as too high). They are killing me on the license plate frame. But the other stuff seems pricey. I also do not have the technical knowledge to understand why you have to purchase the Super Tuner AND pay 280 for the Dynamometer work. Can anyone help me out?

Ok Time for me to get a CAM lesson.. I met up with Lone Wolf over the weekend at a Rally and he mentioned he was getting set to upgrade his CAM.

1st Thoughts on upgrading a CAM without porting or boring anything else on a stock 96. I know it will definitely change the sound and perhaps run a bit cooler, but is it worth it on its own.

2nd Will I have to change a stage 1 Big sucker, and will a V&H Fuel Pack still work ok with this setup?

appreciated.

Hi guys,

My wife has asked me to be on the lookout for some passenger floorboards.

What other models will bolt up to the Lo? Only softails, or will other models bolt on?

Thanks
Michael

Do the license plate yourself. Its a very simple job.
15 minutes tops, if that. Cant believe they are charging that much for it. They should just offered to throw in the install for free with all the other things you are doing to the bike at this dealership.

I think you are getting ripped off--1 hour to install a laydown plate which is three bolts, and 1 hour to install the heavy breather, ridiculous. if you can't do it yourself shop around for an indy in your area.

As others have stated, the license plate labor is ridiculous. I'd put that on myself (15 minute job and you only need to be able to hold a wrench to be able to do it). For that matter, you should look at the low cost hogrida.com laydown plate which is so popular with us folks. $25 dollars, shipped, easiest install in the world. If you insist on the kuryakyn, order it online at discount and put it on yourself. You can thank us later for saving you $75 of labor (seriously...a 5 year old could do this part with his playskool tools).

Otherwise, you are looking at a similar setup to what I have (VH 2-2, SE pro super tuner, and I have the Roland sands AC instead of a heavy breather). Had the dealer do the whole install for I think 2-3 hours of labor.

I DID NOT do a dyno, but rather had them put on a map using the SE super tuner that was expected to perform very well with my setup. I have put about 3000 miles on mine since the work and have been pleased with the current setup. I have plans of maybe one day dyno'ing it, but it's not at the top of my list. It's working great with just the estimated map on the SEPST.

An hour for license plate frame install is crazy. Also two hours for exhaust and
an hour for intake is high IMO as well.
