Ok, so I was just curious what a specific allen head drain plug was for on the bottom of the twin cam 96 motors. I know the oil drain plug is in the frame and the primary is right under the primary cover and the tranny plug is in between the rear shocks....there's a lone plug in the bottom part of the motor towards the front....I can take a picture if you guys need it. Just curious what it was for
It's to drain the sump under the crank/flywheels. I'm thinking it's there to check for metal shavings, etc. if there's a question about it. Otherwise there's no need to mess with it.
yea well i took it out thinking it was the tranny plug....but replaced the oil that came out with it. Just wanted to make sure I didn't do something completely horrible. Thanks!
Well when I was a first timer doing my service I admit, did the same thing. After checking back in with my service manual..I realized I made an "ooops". Little if any oil came out of that plug for me.
