I had a small...maybe 8" tall X 5" wide tombstone on my old FX and it did a surprisingly good job of keeping the bugs off of me. It had a little forward curve at the top. Of course it wasn't as good as a full size but I liked it and tried to find another one when I got my Springer but can't find them anywhere so I went with a Windvest. It's small and I think as effective as the big one that Harley sells without the buffeting. I've got one of the Harley ones also and it's been hanging on the wall in my garage every since I put on the windvest.
I think most would be surprised at what a diff a little flyscreen makes. Don't have one my HD but do run one on my Vmax. Done and on and off camparo so I know from experience that it works. Just takes the wind off your chest and allows you to tuck down some and the wind will hit right at the top of your head. Gives your arms a little break cause you don't have to hang on as hard. I would like a something for the Fatboy just for longer rides.
Funny I was just going to mention this. A good buddy of mine has a 98 Vmax with that same little shield as yours. I have riden it a few times and I am AMAZED how much wind it takes off your face and chest. Makes for a very very comfy ride. Same concept as a bug deflector on a truck. Makes the air fly right up over the cab.
