Default Changing exhaust question.

Just wondering is it easier to unplug the 02 censors first, they look like they are hard to get at on the back of the pipe? I'am installing some V&H 2 into 2. Do they unplug from the sensor itself?

Unscrew from the pipe before you take the old ones off.

Do you mean unscrew it from the engine first?

I think he means take them off before removing the pipes.

Are you going to be installing a Power Commander as well? If so, get some O2 sensor plugs since you have to put the "jumpers" in the end of the harness that stays on the bike. I just left the sensors in when I removed the stock exhaust rather than risking something (tool wise) hitting the jugs and dinging them up when I tried to get to the sensors. Unplugging them first isn't difficult......the plug for the rear sensor is up under all the crap under the seat, but I came from the bottom and was able to get after it

The sensors are hardwired to a pig tail which is plugged into the wiring harness. On my bike, the front is connected behind the voltage regulator and the rear is connected under the seat in the battery compartment.

Yea, unplug them from the harness first. Then remove the pipes, they are MUCH easier to take out with the pipes on the floor than on the bike.
You 'can' use an open end wrench to take them out, but I would recommend that you spend the extra couple of bucks to get an O2 socket from the local auto parts store.
Some sensors are a tad soft and an open end that doesn't fit properly or used wrong can round them off making things harder for no good reason.
Be careful putting them into the new pipes (if your reuseing them), put anti sieze on the threads, but pay attention to keeping it on the threads only. If any gets on the sensor end it can damage the sensor itself.

yea what he said. i removed only the front one from the pipe as the back was too hard to get to. I pulled the battery out and released the clip for the o2 connector under the oil tank
