Default Front forks extremely STIFF!!

If I hit the tiniest of bumps it feels like someone is hittin the front end with a sledge!. No give whatsoever. Recently got a used Fatboy so I am not sure what does done to the front end in the past. Should I check the fork oil, change it, or could that even be the culprit. Is it possible someone used a lowering kit or something? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated

I recently lowered mine about 1-3/4" using a kit from Progressive, it's noticeably stiffer, although it seems to have gotten a little softer after putting on several hundred miles. I don't miss the stock nose dive when stopping but am not to keen on the new found harsh ride either. Somewhere in the middle would be better. I'll probably change the fork oil when I fix a leaking fork seal. I'll try a light oil, maybe that will help.

Check fork oil, i installed lowering kit and put too much fork oil and lost all suspension, the front would literally go up in the air on every bump. fyi, oil level should be at 5.5 inches from top of compressed fork tube (without spring), or roughly about 12oz.

Fork oil is cheap and it is easy to change it. Just drain it and put in exactly what the owner's manual calls for.

Fork oil doesn't compress, air does. More oil/less air = no compression. Less oil/more air = more compression. I experimented with lighter fluids and did like the feel of that. I've just installed the RICOR units in my Deuce, but haven't had a chance to run it much. What I've ridden so far feels real nice.

Post a picture. How much of the lower tube on top of the step is showing under the upper tube. Thats an easy way to tell if it was lowered.

Doesn't look lowered to me. Drain fluid and measure how much you take out so you have an idea if it's overfilled. You'll need to bounce the front end to get all the oil out.

If it has the right amount the next move would be to try lighter fluid. Amsoil make an excellent 5wt shock fluid.
