I originally posted this in the Engine/fuel/ Intake/exhaust section, but no response so I'll try here. I just took my 07 Heritage Classic out for the first time this morning. The heat coming from the right side of the engine is uncomfortably hot on my leg . Is this normal? Is anyone else having the same problem?
I had heard the same after I bought my 2006 Night Train. But mine wasn't. The people I knew that where running hot learned their machines where running way too lean. May be the same with the 2007's?
Have you done any mods???? They do make heat shields for that problem...I know my friends Ultra does the same thing and he went with the shields....I believe it is the rear cylinder exhaust that doesn't catch a lot of air is the problem...
No mods. The bike is bone stock, I trailered it home from the dealer yesterday and that was the first time that I had ridden the bike. I Checked the plugs, and the tips are gray and the electrodes are white. The exhaust are blakish in color. Sorry no pictures yet. I'll call the dealer tomorrow and see what he says before I ride it again. Thanks for the replys.
My '06 was running very hot when I bought the bike. My oil temps were between 250 and 280. I changed my air filter, changed pipes, installed a powercommander and switched to synthetic oil. After the bike was tuned with the powercommander all the heat went away and my oil temp stays right at 200 degrees now.

Thanks in advance, Dave
I'm having the heat issue also with my '07 FatBoy. How do we solve this?
