Default Transmission fluid level ??

Hey guys... My first service on my newely bought 07 Fatboy. I just removed my transmission drain plug and 32 ounces definately DID NOT come out. When I refilled with 32 ounces the fluid level was extremely high in the transmission resivior...almost up to the threads but not over spilling.. What gives??? Do softails take less than 32 ounces?? I definately removed the plug.. Its the only in-set plug left under the bike after i drained the motor oil.Any info would be greatly appreciated!!Tim

The transmission oil is thick, so it sticks to the gears.

Check out this link with a step by step pictorial of how to change transmission oil

Are you sure you drained the transmission? The plug is up between the two shocks. There is a plug forward directly below the centerline of the crank shaft on the engine block that a lot of people get mixed up with transmission and engine oil on a softail.
