Jockey shift, suicide clutch is fun & cool but i still have to think back to the day & the fact that those of us who rode that way did it because we couldn't afford the foot shift kit!
Here's my old "39 stroker knuckle the day I brought it home. Paid $250 & yes it ran.
Yeah, and those mousetraps were a pain when you did switch to a footshift, hand cllutch set up. It's been a while since I heard the term "ratchet top." I always thought Harley's going to a foot shift was a step forward, but obviously other guys see it differently.
Lundee hit the nail on the head. I click it into neutral on a foot shift before I stop too. I know it is now what MSF recommends, but that is the way I ride.
I love it ...it just freaks me out ...im tippy toed now im only5'2...and it seems that it would be scary sitting at the light having to hold clutch down with one foot....am i wrong or is there a different way u guys use them???if i am i would love to have one and look cool..=0)
For those of you with the foot clutch, have you had problems with leaking tranny fluid from the clutch cable. I bought a kit off ebay last year. The guys said it would fit a rocker, but when I got it nothing fit or lined up. I had to do a lot of stuff to make it work, and it never really worked well. the clutch lever was too far in so I would have to point my left toe inwards just to reach it. Then it also leaked tranny fluid through the cable. I went back to a normal setup. But, I've been wanting to try it again. I'm just worried about spending the money and getting another shitty kit.
Are you guys happy with the labriola kits? Any problems with fitment? Does the foot clutch assembly replace the whole stock forward control assembly?
I have floorboards on my ride. It will only leak at the tranny if the cable is not threaded in properly. No leaking on mine. I did have to make one of the bolt holes a little bit bigger to make it lineup with the floorboard brackets, but that was it. The drill handled that in about 2 seconds. My clutch pedal has a 3 or 4" peg on the end of it that I can even reach with my Harley Goodies floorboard extensions on my bike. And, if the peg was not long enough I could get another or have one made that is as it just bolts onto the actual lever for the clutch.
For my bike all I had to do was install the clutch cable, Remove the floorboard bracket and install the clutch cable holder between the bracket and the frame, remove the foot shifter and install the foot clutch. It is a lot simpler than it sounds. You will also have to remove your shifter linkage and install the jockey shift lever.
However, What did you guys do with the left hand controls? Switches, clutch, etc? Is there some sort of swap out to clean it up and still keep the swithches?
Thanks again! Dr. V-Twin, you have helped settle some of my fears regarding city riding...
