Default Why Not Open Loop SEST?

I have done all of the smart tune runs and everything is dialed in pretty good. I have ran the bike just as recommended and it runs fairly good.

I also put in the AFRs that I wanted from 13.8-14.2 and ran the bike in open loop. Everyone tells me I should not do that as the closed loop is better but tan cant tell me why.

When the bike is in open loop it runs much stronger and cooler, and I still get in the low 40s for mileage.

So I guess my question is why not just run the SEPST in open loop and be done with it?

In closed loop the ECM will adj the fuel mixture where it needs it or take it away where it's too fat, open loop it just runs on the map you install through the presets. I myself run mine in open loop. The narrow band sensors only work at a +5 to -5 of the 14.7. When the map is below that the sensors cant read it
