I have an 06 with the Nostalgic King Size Detachable Windshiled (57140-05). Fits all delux models.
Some have trimmed a couple inches off at a glass shop or have done it themselves. I have decided to leav mine. When I am in cruising position, I see over it. When more slouched in a touring position, I see through it. This set up is just fine with me. Love the windshiled. Firsat bike I have had with one and it is good.
I also have the Nostalgic King Size Detachable Windshield my dealer offered to cut it down for me but I said let me ride with it the way it is I never went back to have it cut. I never thought I would put a windshield on a bike I owned. I started riding with it on and now I really have trouble taking it off. One night I removed it took off went about a block came back and put it right back on. I do find that it pushes me around a bit on windy days at high speed but its worth it.
I ride a lot of freeway miles. At speeds over 60 it really makes things nice!
I don't feel pushed around at all, and I don't get tired anywhere near as fast. There is no pressure on my chest, so i can just relax.
I bought the quick detach thinking I would take it off most of the time. It has only come off for cleaning since I got it.
I also have the king size nostalgic. I cut it down though because it was too high for me.
Recently cut it down3 1/2 inches, it was too high, and the side would get in my way on turns. Works great now
They also sell a shorter version with the same hardware but tinted.

I've wanted to windshield thinking it would make the ride easier... but it doesn't? What makes it worth it if it forces you around even more?
<-- just trying to decide if I should get one for fwy rides
Grant,
I've rode with and without, and I can say I definately prefer to have the shield on. With the shield on the bike will get a bit more buffeting in the wind, but not bad IMO.
without the shield at highway speeds I feel like i'm in a wind tunnel.
