For the money, the Heritage is really hard to beat. Just need some EZ brackets or something similar and the whole rig becomes quick detachable. And you'll need to anti-sag those bags.

I had a similar debate between the Fat Boy and Heritage. I ended up going with the fatty cause some of the things I wanted were just too damned pricey to change on the Heritage, the wide tires.

I ended up going with the memphis shades fats windshield and some Osprey bags and am really happy. Can still strip her down to how she almost came in about 1 minute.

the Heritage is a great all around bike !
You can change the whole "look" in 1/2 hr (bags seats w/shld etc)
Height wise you won't have a problem.
If you plan on actually riding it when you get it, I highly recommend NOT
lowering it (unless) you plan on going air ride. I did ride an 06 w/airride and it was sweet. Other than that, you can't beat the stock ride.

For the whole "Stripping it down" idea.

I am about to be the new owner of a '06 Heritage.

It came with the rigid mount backrest and bags and what not.

I know I can get the quick release backrest kit for it... is there a similar thing for the bags? I would love to be able to twist a pin like on the baggers and pull the bag (I know the baggers bags also rest on a support bar, but I bet it can be done). Anything like that out there?

If so, do you have links to where to buy or P/N's for the harley stuff?

TIA

[QUOTE=Danny D;6734982]IMO - Get a Fatboy. I just didn't want all those studs on a Heritage, a little too retro.

Did somebody say studs, and here I thought it was old school?

I have a 2007 heritage, I totally love it. It is a very comfortable bike, rode it to daytona from New Jersey with no problems. I have the quick release windshield and quick release sissy bar side plates. and a solo seat. I can go from full 2 up down to solo with no windshield in about 5 minutes. I leave the bags on, cause I would be lost with out them, plus I like the way it looks set up solo with the bags. Enjoy it. Be safe

Studded, for Her pleasure! The studs are not my thing, but that's what makes a Heritage a Heritage! Lose the bags and add a sleek solo seat and the "spots" are gone.

Seriously though.... I've ran around town all week on my Heritage.... stripped down and solo. Tomorrow morning, it'll take me 15 minutes to install windshield, sissy bar, pillion, and bags.... then we'll be ready to ride over 100 miles to Nashville for the day, with jackets and rain gear onboard. Gotta love that!

The Heritage is the most versitile bike you can get. Most comcortable seat for the bike hight. You can also bring the bars back to fit your arm length easier than any other bike I have seen. I am 5'6" with 29" a inseam and pushing 60 yrs old. Was taller in my 30's and probably gonna get shorter too. My 1200 Low fit good to but the seat was to thin and allways had a numb butt. Short or tall you can't beat it.

5'8" 30" and my Heritage is just fine, no need to lower it.
