I've been chiming in on the Softail site for a while now as I bought my Heritage a few months ago. My last bike was an '07 Streetbob and I sold it for financial reasons but, as I saw in someone's sig: "A Harley can get you through times without money better than money can get you through times without a Harley" or something like that. Works for me! At first I was looking into a Streetglide until I actually went to a dealer and sat on one and realized that it was just too damn big and heavy. A big reality check. I'm only 5'4" on a good day so I searched and searched and finally found a local (SoCal) '07 Heritage with 687 miles on it. My favorite color, too. My last two bikes were vivid black so this is a nice change. It was bone stock and in showroom condition. Since then I've added:
Big Sucker
Power Commander
V&H Big Shot Staggereds
C&C Fastback Seat (lower and closer)
Lowered the rear about an inch
RJ's Heat Shields
Smaller diameter grips
Laydown license plate
Luggage rack (which I salvaged from my Streetbob)
New bags (wanted Boss but these will do for now)
Mustache engine guard
Arlen Ness kick stand (couldn't reach the stock)
I'm in LOVE with this bike. If I had all the money in the world I wouldn't want any other bike and I hope you feel the same about your bike!
Coming from a Dyna, which was a great bike, (and before that an '02 1200) I like having the extra lighting and the bigger front tire. Rides MUCH smoother than my Streetbob (though I have to admit I'd slammed it a little too much).
Just got the bags as the last finishing touch so I thought I'd share some pictures and (at least for now) not looking to do anything else.....really.....no, I mean it.......Heritages have enough chrome to start with........anyway. I'm real happy with it. Fits me like a glove and rides like a bat outta hell. I'm proud to be a member of the Softail family.
Thanks, Hockey Stick. Looks like you've been doin' some serious traveling. I'd planned to go on a 4 day ride with some friends through Nevada this weekend but the weather sucks there, apparently so we're going to have to do it later. I bought me a Biker's Friend XL bag for the trip and can't wait to use it. I may just put it on around town to test the lumbar support!
