I got studs on mine... but either way, can't go wrong with the FLST family.

Stevieg,

Welcome to the Softail side. Your bike is great looking, a classic, even without the studs. Enjoy your new ride.

Why not go with a Deluxe same bike no studs?

"Why not go with a Deluxe same bike no studs?"

Good idea. (I don't even know how to reply to that)

Really like the studless look. Very classy, indeed! What bags are those? Would like to find something like that which flows well for my Night Train on the occasion of an overnighter. You have the quick release setup on them?

Again. Sweet looking Heritage!

MGN54,
Thanks for the compliment! The bags are from Rakaposhi. I think they're from India (duh). Jim, the guy I dealt with actually came up with a variation of his Heritage bag for me as I'd wanted a little larger openings than stock and the ones they'd previously offered. They cost about $375 and price was definitely a factor. This included the locking mechanisms. I'd read numerous reviews about Rakaposhi from this and other sites and most were fairly favorable. When I finally got my bags, I noticed that some of the stitching was already coming apart where the lids were sewn. They told me to send them back but, because I'd already waited so long, decided I didn't want to spend any more money on shipping and had someone reinforce the existing stitching which cost me $35. They are NOT detachable which doesn't really matter to me as I'm not planning on taking them off. The material looks like leather but not sure. Again, for the money, they're ok. Personally, if I'd had about $1,100 (which would include the brackets) I would've gone with Boss Bags. In my opinion they're the best as I had some I got used on this site on my Dyna and I loved them. For now, I'm happy but can't recommend them whole heartedly.

I bought me a Biker's Friend XL bag for the trip and can't wait to use it. I may just put it on around town to test the lumbar support!
That was on the way to Laughlin this past April.
I was actually packed for a planned trip thru AZ, UT, NV after the laughlin weekend was over. Had to cancel that trip due to my father's health which needed me to return home.
Father is OK for now.

I'm looking for another oppertunity to make that trip this year.

I always think about pulling the studs off my heritage. It's the only part of the bike I am not crazy about.

I didn't like the studs at first so I went with the Deluxe. They've grown on me though. I went with this look on my Deluxe and really like the 3 conchos. Remind me of the triple tailights on my '63 Impala SS . . .
