bike is puking oil

bike is puking oil

while on the way to DC for rolling thunder my buddies twincam puke a ton of oil out the breather. We were about 200 miles into the trip and were running about 80 mph for the last 100 miles. we let everything cool off and continued on it did it again. funny thing is it didnt do it again all weekend long or on the 500 mile trip home. he thinks he may have over filled it with oil. Any got any ideas?

It sounds like it was overfilled. You need to check and fill the oil while it is warm. Maybe he filled while it was cold. I have done this before and had the same results.

Yep. Over filled it. Did he check the oil level when it stopped blowing out the breather(s)?

The correct level on the dipstick is in the middle between add and full when cold.

It's very common for a harley to puke oil out the breathers when over full. Sometimes even when to the full mark while hot. I have always run my bikes 1/2 qt low which is 3 1/2 qts on a bagger. I have never had a problem since.
