I used Pig Spit on the V&H black Short Shots I had. Kept them looking new all the time. You can also paint them with high temp paint and follow that up with some high temp clear. I'm planning on doing this very thing on the black Hooker Troublemakers I'm currently running sometime this summer.

I've been trying to find something good to clean my new black V&H BSS pipes with. Harley doesn't offer anything. Thanks for the info.

I've had mine for over a year now and seem to be doing fine. The pipes themselves do blue out a little, but with the dark color you don't really notice. All you really see are the heat shields and for the most part, no maintenance, just dry wipe most of the time, damp cloth when they need a little more. Have ridden in fairly warm temp 85+, rain etc, seem to stand up OK. I've heard disputes about sound, performance, etc. but I really like the look and sound. Only thing I would change is that the forward pipe hangs pretty low and have dragged the heat shield on the bottom at times. Not to the point of being really dangerous, just annoying as hell.
