Don't apologize for asking a question, that's how you learn. Sometimes it's better to do a search first and then ask if you don't find what you're looking for. Any "what is the best" question will always get responses where people will poke fun, but it's all in fun. There are alot of quality oils out there and alot of it is personal preference. Read in the oil & lubricants section and get ready for information overload.

I would suggest that if you are clueless as to which oil to use, follow the manufacturer's recommendation in your owners manual and go from there. There are so many different oil brands, blends and motorcycle specific offerings that it will make your head spin. I have found that most of the guys I ride with have gone synthetic either Amsoil or Royal Purple (both readily available in my area).

Any oil is better than no oil. I prefer the synthetic stuff. Now which brand, that's 1 big can of worms.
