Default Heritage rider backrest?

Not on this part of the forum much but my friend has a 2009 HeritageSoftail. Got some pretty good back problem. He was looking for a backrest for his stock seat. Anyone here know if there is a good one out there made that will fit his stock seat? Thanks.

I got one from here. Well made but didn't solve my back ache. Figured it might be because the backrest wasn't adjustable so I sprung for a full Mustang seat with adjustable backrest. Still didn't fix the backache. Holding onto the Firehouse Custom one just in case the wife wants it for her Deluxe.

I think FC used to have a try it and return it policy so if your friend is interested he should check that out

His best bet is to spring for a custom seat. There are several good seatmakers out there, but I got mine from diamonseats.com. A friend with a Goldwing told me about them. I got a seat for my Ultra from them for about $450.

You can spend a lot of money trying different solutions. In the long run it's probably cheaper to just pick someone and have a seat made specifically for you.

I did this for my wife recently on her '10 Heritage... started with an incomplete Mustang (no mounting bracket) backrest from eBay ($49.00)and bolted it right to the seat pan. She loves it.

Firehouse Customs makes a good rider backrest. I have been very pleased with mine.

Or you could get a C&C solo seat with a backrest. They are quite nice, but not cheap. However if you have a back problem, your best bet is to get a quality seat and backrest that are made to function as one.

My friend would like to use both the stock riders and passenger seat but add a backrest for him. Does anyone know if there is one made to work with both the stock seats on a 2009 Heritage?

That's right. I had read about some guys with 09s who couldn't get their FC backrest to work. They were pretty pissed. Now I see FC has a disclaimer on their site about using their backrest with the 09+ pillions.

Only thing I could recommend is to go with the full Mustang setup. Pricey but they hold their value well and his wife will absolutely love the 14" pillion. 1000% better than stock. If he wants to keep the HD one I think the seat and backrest are compatible with it.

I have an 07 Hertiage and I went with the Firehouse Custom because of my back. I bought it early this spring and I sure like it. For the cost, I really like it a lot.
