Steering Head Adjustment "Fall Away" Test
I assume to perform this test properly all of the cables need to be disconnected from the handle bars, correct? As I look at it there are also calbes that would need to be removed from the front end is this also correct? Can you get decent results with the cables attached or is this a must remove task to get accurate results? Just lazy!

The tech guys at my dealer say that only taking of the clutch should be ok.
The fall away he's talking about is for setting of the head bearings. You get the front wheel of the ground, apply a pointer and tap the front until the wheel "falls away" by itself. According to the distance between the 2 fall away points (left and right) you loosen or tighten your head bearings. (sorry too lazy to go and look up the actual values in the service book)

Did mine with cables. Used to get a clunk going over bumps. No more cluck and bars move freely. A wrench on this site says to just tighten the bolt to ~12 ft lb's - no fall away adjustment needed.
