Call me stupid... but I just realized, being a fairly new Softail owner, that the rigid mount motors don't give that Harley "SHAKE" like my 05 Sporty gave or my brothers RKC has. I was at his house the other day watching him wrench on his bike then when he started it I saw that "SHAKE" in the motor that just gives me chills. Then I realized, "hey, mine doesn't do that"! I love that.......what gives? Sorry, just me whining.

softails have counterbalancers in the motor that basically take the vibration outta the bike, especially at idle. dynas and the new sportys are rubber mounted, makes the bike vibrate more when it's at low speed and at idle

personally I like the way the vibration is taken outta the softy

Yeah I know what you're talking about.. But.. Look at it this way.. low frequency high level vibrations tend to cause wear and shake stuff loose eventually.. something you don't have to worry about. Enjoy.

Another up side, you don't have to worry about replacing the motor mounts on your softail! Spend some time on the dyna and touring forum, and you'll be glade you have a rigid mount balanced motor.

That's what's so strange. I was at my brothers watching/helping him put on a new front motor mount on his 2006 RKC with about 7K on it. It's under warranty, but he was leaving for a trip and didn't have time to wait for the shop to fix it. Ok, no more whining.

Thats where the B comes in in '88B' or '96B' (B for counter balanced). I just took a 400 mile trip on Monday and my hands did not go numb at any time. Gotta love the 'B'

Well, I'll be....After I got my Heritage Classic last month, my Brother-in-law and I went for a ride. He rides a '04 Dyna Wide Glide and I noticed that his engine was shaking when we pulled up to traffic lights/stop signs or whenever we were idleing. Now, I know why. This Forums is SO informative!!! WAY COOL!!!

One of the main reasons I went for the WG. Gotta love the old school shake.
